Are you studying at the university and have one or more children? The Studierendenwerk offers two different childcare models on the Adolf-Reichwein-Straße campus: a daycare centre (Kita) and flexible childcare (Flexi), where you can have your child looked after by educational staff on an hourly basis.

Are you going to study at the University of Siegen and looking for accommodation? The Studierendenwerk rents out single rooms, shared rooms and flats in its numerous halls of residence for enrolled students and doctoral candidates who are not older than 35.

Based at KrönchenCenter in the Oberstadt district, VHS Siegen is the city’s Adult Education Center. The Center offers courses and events in the fields of People and Society, Culture and Creativity, Health, Languages, Careers and IT. VHS Siegen events are held at KrönchenCenter and at many other locations around the city.

As the Integration Officer, Mr. Büker acts as the interface between the city authority, people with a wide range of cultural backgrounds, intercultural associations and all manner of other institutions. With an effective network, he is able to supply contacts where somebody is new to the city and looking to link up with a community.

City Marketing can provide you with all the information you need on leisure time in Siegen, excursions and places of interest in and around the city. You will also find details on the Siegen-Wittgenstein region as well as things to see and do in North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany in general. Tourist Information can also answer your personal questions, so please call in.

The Family Support Office is the main port of call for comprehensive advice and initial information on all matters relating to families. The Family Support Office is there to offer support services to families and refer cases to relevant institutions. An overview of services for families and children is also available via the online portal of the Family Support Office.

The Citizens Advice offices in Siegen offer fast advice for individuals from a single source. Here you can register or de-register as a resident of the city and avail of many other general services provided by the city authorities. The four ‘branches’ in your locality offer the same services and the same facilities. At present, appointments are required.

The House of Young Talents, the postgraduate centre of the University of Siegen, offers an extensive programme of events and a certificate programme for further qualification as well as individual coaching for postdocs.

If you are still in your home country, enquire with the local German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) office.

Persons in employment can also receive funding for placements abroad. The Department of ISA can advise on the possibilities for doctoral candidates, researchers and employees.

You can submit an application for a course of study at the University of Siegen via the online unisono portal, or send the relevant application to the Department of STARTING. There is a speclial application portal for participants in the Study Bridge program of the Goethe-Institut. Information on student applications is available from the Department of STARTING and from the faculty contact persons for the respective courses.

You have successfully applied for a course of study at the University of Siegen. After enrolling at the University, you will be a student and ready to begin your course of study. You can enrol via the online unisono portal. The International Registrar’s Office of the Department of STARTING will answer any questions you may have.
